Eva Longoria executive produces this bold, provocative drama set at the last family-owned hotel in multicultural Miami Beach. Charismatic Santiago Mendoza owns the hotel, while his glamorous second wife, Gigi, and their adult children enjoy the spoils of success. The hotel’s loyal staff round out a contemporary, fresh take on an upstairs/downstairs story. The series stars Demian Bichir as Santiago Mendoza, Roselyn Sanchez as Gigi Mendoza, Denyse Tontz as Alicia Mendoza, Bryan Craig as Javi Mendoza, Wendy Raquel Robinson as Mrs. P, Lincoln Younes as Danny, Shalim Ortiz as Mateo, Anne Winters as Ingrid, Chris Warren as Jason, Feliz Ramirez as Carolina and Justina Adorno as Yoli.

Former The Game star Wendy Raquel Robinson and Heroes alum Shalim Ortiz have booked series regular roles on ABC drama pilot Grand Hotel, from Eva Longoria, Brian Tanen and ABC Studios. Written by Tanen based on a Spanish format and directed by Ken Olin, Grand Hotel is a soapy drama set against the backdrop of a Miami Beach hotel, centering on the family who owns the business, the staff who run it and the explosive secrets they hide under the perfect exterior. Robinson will play Mrs. P, a lovable, no nonsense, staff manager at the hotel. Ortiz is Mateo, the Director of Guest Experiences at the hotel who knows every guest by name. Robinson starred on all nine seasons of The CW’s and later BET’s The Game. Recent credits include Disney Channel’s Descendants and Netflix’s Dear White People. She’s repped by Talent Works. Ortiz played Alejandro Herrera on Heroes and recurred on Ballers. He’s repped by Rothman/Andres Entertainment.

Univision is betting on more originals and different formats for its programming line-up as it tries to adapt to changing consumer habits and attract viewers.

This Sunday, the network premieres a new anthology series that tackles stories of people who lose control when faced with unexpected situations, unleashing “the worst instincts of humankind.” Descontrol (Out of Control), shot in Mexico and Colombia, is the second original production put out by Univision’s W Studios, launched in 2016. The first was La Piloto, which aired in early 2017.

“Descontrol is a unique concept: self-contained stories in a one-hour format that are disruptive, provocative and play on the exaggerated reactions to real-life situations that people could only imagine,” says Lourdes Díaz, Univision’s President of Entertainment. “The actors are top names in Spanish-language TV, playing against type in well-written roles.”

Livia Brito, Arap Bethke, Giselle Blondet, Juan Colucho, Carlos Espejel, Alejandro Nones, Shalim Ortiz, Eduardo Santamarina, Marjorie de Sousa, Laisha Wilkins, and Rodrigo Vidal are some of the stars featured in the series, directed by Carlos Gonzalez Sariñana, Joe Rendon, Carlos Cock, Luis Sierra, and David Ruiz. Once tasked with pursuing illegal immigrants, he now works with Vicenta to help them cross the border. He studies law and becomes an Immigration lawyer to help immigrants who are about to be deported or who are unfairly accused of crimes they haven’t committed.
